Weekend and a Birthday

Gosh, I am feeling so lazy this week. I have been a super slacker at taking pictures and feel like coming up with blog worthy stuff is hard if I don't have cute pictures to go along. This weekend was a busy and fun one. My father in law turned 60 so we had family in town and a big "surprise" party on Saturday. I say "surprise" because he pretty much new what was happening. It's hard to keep it a secret when most of your family comes to town and stays in a big fancy cabin. But we still had a blast and the party was a success. I stunk at taking pictures so I only have these from Friday night.

This was the first time Lily and Avery really got to play with Carson and Harrison who are their second cousins. They had so much fun together. We had a big family dinner on Friday night and just enjoyed the company.

On Saturday, we went out and did some touristy stuff and went to the bakery. It was cold! Then we brought the babies home to nap and the big kids took a little hike in the woods. Later on Saturday was the party and I think Alan (father in law) really enjoyed himself! So Happy Birthday Alan!

Hello Monday

Hello Monday.

We had a lot of snow here this weekend and Lily doesn't have school today. So we are home again. I can only watch so many kid cartoons before I want to stab my eyes out, so we are going to try to get out today and do something. There is a new Mommy and Me music class at the gym today, but it's not until 4:30. Hopefully I can come up with something fun to do this morning.

This weekend was mostly spent at home and inside due to the weather. Nathan had clinicals for school on Saturday and Sunday and had a lot of studying to do. We watched the super bowl and ate some yummy food last night with family but that was the extent of my socializing. So in lieu of fun weekend pictures, I want to post what I have been pinning on Pinterest.

This looks super yummy. I love being able to cook with the crock pot. Maybe I will try it this week.

Crockpot Creamy Country Chicken with Vegetables - My first crockpot recipe that I tried from Pinterest. This made the house smell amazing and was delicious. Hubby wanted the sauce on the side when he heard sour cream went into it but he ended up pouring it on! This is a keeper and I will definitely make again once I get through trying all the other recipes I have pinned!

I tried this workout at the gym this week. It was pretty good. I had never stayed on the treadmill that long. ha

50 minute challenge

I really like this idea for when the girls get older. I would have loved this when I was growing up to earn extra money.

"Work for Hire" for kids to earn extra money

Just doing a little dreaming for the future. 2ish more years and maybe we can think about building our dream house.

Beautiful

And a kitchen that I loved.

The Weekend and Things I'm Loving

This weekend was pretty low key. We had dinner out on Friday night and Saturday was a lazy day. We went to a friends birthday party on Saturday night and I drank entirely too much and stayed up too late. So Sunday I felt pretty crappy the whole day. I won't be doing that again for a while. Just not worth it for me at this point. I enjoy my sleep more.

Since my weekend wasn't very exciting, I wanted to share some of the things I am loving lately.

I bought this BB Cream at Walmart a couple weeks ago and really love it. It's sorta like a foundation but very light and it evens out my skin. This is the first one I have tried. website

I bought this heart rate monitor about a month ago and have been using it when I work out. I love being able to see how many calories I have burned after a workout. It is a great motivator for me. I got mine at Dick's Sporting Goods.

I am sorta obsessed with this show. I can't stop thinking about last night's episode but I won't post any spoilers. I totally recommend watching this. You can get the previous seasons on Netflix. website

I recommend trying all these things!

Our Weekend

We have had some sickies around here this weekend. Luckily I think everyone is starting to feel better now. I took them to the doctor on Friday to get a checkup an some medicine started. We had been up multiple times the night before and I didn't want to have to wait until Monday.

I was able to get to the gym on Friday and Saturday. I skipped Sunday.

Saturday was a whole lotta sick snuggles from this girl. She was miserable and pretty much refuses to take her medicine. We had to sneak it into her milk and other drinks.

Then my sis and brother in law came over and enjoyed this cookie dough cheesecake I made. Recipe is here. Found through Pinterest.

Sunday was a super fun day. Nathan had planned a surprise adventure for the girls and I. We woke up early and drove to a town about 30 minutes away to catch a train! We rode about an hour and my mother in law picked us up in another small town with a stop. The train runs through the New River Gorge and the views were really pretty. The girls were super excited and pretty good for the most part. Avery was a little intense with all her seat hopping.

It was a passenger train so I felt a little guilty hopping on with our wild ones for fun when people were actually riding to get from point A to point B. I hope we didn't disturb anyone too much. The girls thought it was pretty neat, and I did too so I will call it a success.

Today will be spent recovering from the rest of the sickies and getting ready for school for the rest of the week. It is supposed to be super cold here this week. Yuck!

What did you do this weekend?

Our Weekend

Happy Monday, a new week is upon us. Nathan went back to school today, so that is a bit of a bummer. I guess it is time to get back into a routine.

We had a fun weekend! On Friday we took the girls to Charleston to the Clay Center and then to Chuck E. Cheese. It was the first time for both of the girls and they loved that place. I hadn't been there in quite a while and was impressed with how big it was and it wasn't crowded at all since most kids are in school.

That night, we went to dinner and had yummy Japanese and then went to the movies and saw Les Miserable. It was so good! I hadn't seen the musical in such a long time I had forgotten the story. The singing was good aside from a couple characters. The girls spent the night with Grammy, so we actually got to sleep in the next day. 9 am was glorious.

On Saturday we had a lazy day and cleaned up around the house and then headed out to a birthday party for one of the little girls in Lily's class. The weather was beautiful on Saturday so after the party Nathan and I did a 5K to practice for the Color Me Rad race we signed up for in March.

Sunday the weather was nice as well and we decided to head out for a hike in the New River Gorge. I am really making an effort to workout and lose a couple pounds. We had an awesome walk and the girls loved it. We saw lots of beautiful scenery and the girls put their toes in a small waterfall. They thought it was awesome. So crazy for January.

I had a great weekend with my family. Can't wait to do it again in 5 days!

I also got a sweet free signature for my blog. Hopefully it shows up below. You can get one too until tomorrow the 15th. Just visit Melissa Rose Design Facebook page! Here to like her page.

Insta-Friday

Another week has gone by, and it's time to share another set of cell phone pics. It's amazing that we have a camera at our finger tips at any moment. I love it!

So we had a big milestone in the land of Lily. She drew her family! And they actually look like people. Love it so much.

A sweet pic of Jack and Avery from our trip to NC.

And more of enjoying Jack's toys.

Roadtrip love. Sometimes you just have to jump in the back seat and do some baby entertaining.

Don't let this one fool you, she was not asleep.

Lily told me she was hiding my money so monsters didn't get it. How considerate!

And this is my favorite. She likes to look at herself in the mirror when she dresses up.

I got a awesome package from Influenster. These smell so yummy!

Trying to keep on this exercise kick. I used some Christmas money to buy a new heart rate monitor. I love that it is a more accurate calorie burned counter. I am use the My Fitness Pal app to track my calories too.

We sure are going to miss Daddy when he goes back to school. We have loved having him home to go to school drop off and pick up with us.

I swear the Ipad is like baby crack for Ave. She is obsessed. Anytime she sees it, she says "mickey, mickey, mickey" even though she accidentally deleted the Mickey app. She really likes the Talking Tom app.

She also started her baby gymnastics class. She is really loving it. I enjoy doing something just for her.

Just relaxing a little bit on our roadtrip. Love my new Toms and the skinny cords from Old Navy. They are so comfortable.

Hope everyone had a good week. We are headed to the childrens museum today. Also our very first trip to Chuck E Cheese. Lord save me now. Ha. Tonight it is dinner and we finally are seeing Le Mis!
