The Package Tour

In June, I headed down to Charlotte to visit my bff (literally she is the friend I have had the longest. Since Kindergarten!) The reason for this visit? The Package Tour. If you were a tween during the late 80's and early 90's, you will die if you see this show. It was amazing! Boyz II Men, 98 Degrees and New Kids on the Block.

Now my very first concert was to see Boyz II Men when I was in the 8th grade, with my same bff. So this was even more special to see them again with her. One of my memories from the first concert was that they threw red roses into the audience, and they did it again at this concert. We so wanted to catch one but sadly did not. ha.

We had awesome seats on the floor and had a great view. Not all my phone pictures turned out but some are decent.

98 Degrees. Nick Lachey was looking quite nice.

New Kids- A little Joey McIntyre....

and Jordan.....

and some Donnie.

At one point Jonathan came out and performed in the audience right near us. I for sure thought I was videoing the whole thing and then realized after that I was not. Dang you Iphone!

Catching Up

So it's been about a million years since I've blogged. Not for lack of stuff to blog about. I am sporting a yucky summer cold right now, but we have been keeping pretty busy around here and doing lots of fun stuff. We have been enjoying summer, although it has been raining at some point everyday for what seems like forever. Aside from that we have really been enjoying our summer.

Backing all the way up to June, we practiced tent camping in the front yard in preparation for a one night camping trip later in the month. The girls really like hanging out in the tent but they didn't make it past 9pm. They were back in the house and in their own beds.

Then we had a fun day for Daddy. Pancakes, sausage and coffee in bed. Yummy. I tried my hand at pancake shapes. Ha, I definitely need some practice.

We enjoyed a fun family day at the park and taking a little walk and also making totally weird faces. This kid, I swear.

I promise to try to be around more!

Be Right Back

So I know I have really been slacking on the posting of things happening in our lives. We have just been chugging along and enjoying summer. I'm sure I will be back soon with some new pictures of all the fun we have been having.

As you probably already know, Google Reader is done as of tomorrow. So if you follow through the reader you will no longer receive posts from Fell Family Fun. So if you want to keep following along, you can here! That is a Bloglovin link. It is what I have found easiest for me to continue to follow blogs through. I like the easiness of the site and app.

Insta-Friday

Another week has flown by! Summer is just moving right along. I am linking up again here:

life rearranged

Just some tidbits from our week:

One rainy morning the girls dressed up in their swimming gear and "swam" in the living room. Then Lily decided that high heels were necessary too.

The girls went with Grammy to a little petting zoo in the parking lot of one of the local grocery stores. I got these super cute pictures while they were there.

We had some friends come into town last weekend. Saturday we had a cookout and Sunday we woke up and went on a hike in the Gorge. The girls did pretty good and the views and company were great.

Lily went with my Mom to vacation bible school and couple days this week. She picked out her outfit which she has been doing a lot lately. Tight and a fancy dress that used to belong to me when I was a kid.

We have had a time with this lady lately. We put the girls in the same room recently. We set up Ave's bed in Lily's room and converted it to a toddler bed. (crib with bed rail) She really wasn't going for that though and it took forever to get her to fall asleep. So we pulled out the twin trundle bed from under Lily's and that is now her new bed. I think Nathan may build a bed frame and we will get a new mattress so we can still have the extra trundle bed when we need it. This picture is a day when she did just about everything but nap until she got tired enough to pass out.

While sissy was at bible school, I got to spend some quality time with this little cheeser. We had a leisurely bath time then cuddled on the couch until bed time. I love this sweet girl.

Even though we have been having quite a bit of rain, we have had a couple days that we were able to enjoy dinner outside.

and then inside for a lunch picnic where they were so sweet with each other. Avery is totally Lily's little shadow and loves doing everything sis does.

My Mom stops by occasionally on weekdays when she is out in the field for work. She usually can't stay very long but the girls really like it. This day Lily got her covers off her bed and made a place for her and Nana to nap.

And on Thursday I drove the girls down to Charleston to meet Nathan after class. We had a yummy lunch at Panera and a fun trip to Chuck E Cheese. The girls loved it. Avery ran around to every "ride" and asked for monies. But once they started going she wouldn't ride the whole time. I think she just liked the thrill of putting the money in the little slot. Oh no.........

BBQ Chili Pasta

If you are looking for yummy summer pasta dish I have one for you! I found this recipe online a couple years ago. I just have the paper copy I wrote down, so I have no idea who to credit for this recipe. If this is yours, please let me know!

BBQ Chili Pasta

Ingredients:

1 (8oz.) Package of rotini pasta (I used macaroni since that was what I had on hand)
1 tbl. olive oil
1 small onion, chopped
8 ounces ground turkey (I usually just use the whole package)
1 8 ounce can of tomato sauce
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1 15oz. can of corn (you could also use frozen)
1 tbl. chili powder
1 tbl. dried oregano
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 cup barbecue sauce

1. In a large pot cook pasta to al dente, drain.

2. In a large non-stick skillet heat oil over medium heat. Add onion and bell pepper and cook until softened. Add ground turkey and cook through. Stir in chili powder, dried oregano, salt, corn, tomato sauce and BBQ sauce. Bring mixture to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and let simmer until slightly thickened, about 3 to 4 minutes.

3. In a large serving bowl, combine turkey mixture with pasta and serve immediately.

This is a perfect weekday meal or addition to any cook out.
